ALANYA – Relief for thousands of landowners! The controversial tree-cutting in forested agricultural areas of Alanya has been officially suspended ahead of new legislation from Ankara.

Over the years, many lands registered as forests were transformed into olive, almond, and walnut gardens. Conflicts arose between local producers and government officials over these areas, but now, existing gardens will remain untouched until legal procedures are complete.

“Processes are frozen until the new law is enacted. After 2023, there will be no tolerance for illegal forest encroachment,” said Mehmet Sharani Tavlı, head of the AK Party district branch in Alanya.

⚠️ Authorities have also tightened inspections in the region. While old gardens are expected to remain protected, stricter measures will target newly opened lands over the past two years.
