Alanya Steps Up Alcohol Checks for Cyclists and Electric Scooter Riders

Authorities in Alanya have intensified inspections targeting cyclists, electric bicycle riders, and electric scooter users. Throughout the summer, police are carrying out regular checks with a particular focus on detecting alcohol impairment.

The inspections are taking place along Alanya's seafront promenade and in the city center during the busy summer season.

Alcohol Limit and Financial Penalties

Riders found with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding 0.20‰ face substantial financial penalties.

  • 25,000 TL for a first offense.
  • 50,000 TL for a second offense committed within five years.
  • 150,000 TL for a third and every subsequent offense.

Riding a bicycle, electric bicycle, or electric scooter with a blood alcohol level above 0.20‰ may result in significant fines under the current enforcement campaign.

Summer Safety Campaign

The increased inspections are part of Alanya's seasonal road safety campaign aimed at improving safety for residents and visitors during the peak tourism period.

Police officers continue to monitor popular public areas and remind riders to follow traffic regulations and avoid operating bicycles or electric vehicles after consuming alcohol.

Officials encourage all road users to ride responsibly and comply with local traffic laws to help keep Alanya's streets and waterfront safe throughout the summer.
