Schengen subject to residence permit
Citizens of other countries can process Schengen visa in Turkey subject to one condition, residence permit (ikamet). Residence permit allows the foreigner to address the council of any state located at the territory of the country where the document is executed.
The set of papers necessary to process visa for every country is standard, the form to be filled can be downloaded from the website of any council. Before addressing the council it is required to appoint the «rendezvous». It is the time when you shall come to submit the documents. You choose the council nearest to your location on the website (it can be Antalya, Istanbul, Bursa, and etc.), fill in your data, choose day and time. Substantially, this is a standard procedure that is not different form the one you passed in your native country.
Island visa to spend the weekend
This type of visa can be received by those people who want to spend their weekend on one of the Greek islands. The island visa does not give the right to travel freely through Europe, but you can easily go to the islands nearest to Turkey: Kos, Rhodes, Samos, Lesbos.
The main thing is to submit the documents on time. It is required to do that at least a week prior to the trip. To receive visa you need to gather the following set of documents:
- Bank statement certifying that you have 500 Euro at free access
- Two photos
- International passport copy
- Ferry tickets at both ends
- Acknowledgement of the paid hotel reservation
