The history of Turkey

Almost every country in the world has its own unique and interesting history. And we would like to tell you about the history of this amazing country Turkey, more exactly we’d like to hint at how many centuries ago Asia Minor’s history started, and how this land was formerly known before.
This paradise place on earth surrounded by the warm seas, where the sun was shining almost the whole year, was interesting for many generals and conquerors of that time.
The biggest impact left on the land was the Roman Empire’s rule, the presence of which is still everywhere in Turkey. The ruins of the town, the famous Roman baths and theaters in Turkey speak of the greatness of the empire and its past interests in Asia Minor.
We all know the story of Sparta and Troy. Resulted in the great love of Prince Paris of Troy and Helen, a wife of the Sparta ruler Menelaus, this war had passed through the millennia and covered with many myths, but does everyone know that Troy before that war was located on the territory of modern Turkey? And Troy stood just in hundred kilometers from Istanbul.
Trip to Troy is also beautiful because it makes you pay attention to its mysterious history and the whole Minoan civilization.
Huge mark in the history of Asia Minor was left by the great Lycian civilization. Lycians lived in the first millennium BC. Their famous tombs, cut out in the rocks, have survived till our times. The higher was the tomb, the richer was a person buried in it. There was also a slave inside that grave, who remained with his master for eternity. Capital of Lycia was the city of World (now Demre), in which one can see those famous rock tombs. The Romans, too, did not ignore this place and they built theater near to the tombs in which mainly comedy was played, showing by this the disrespect to the dead. But even in such place, the theater is outstanding for its architectural ensemble. Now the restoration work is in process, trying to restore as much as possible.
Being in such places and touching the stones that are thousands of years, you feel inside yourself something indescribable, something fascinating. In Demre, there is also a church of St. Nicholas, who lived and worked in these places. He is believed to be an ancestor of modern Santa Claus, for he was first to bring the gifts for poor children secretly. Children loved him very much, and he discovered his special gift when he was a boy. Earlier, on the place of Saint Nicholas’ temple, there was a temple of Artimid of which there is always a story to tell and something to show.
The historical value of Turkish land is large and beautiful. Visitors of Turkey for the first time stay under the impression of magic history forever, and it cannot be forgotten. Thousands-year-old aura of the land is so strong, and there were footprints of such great historical figures as Cleopatra, Mark Antony, Saint Nicholas, Alexander the Great, the Virgin Mary, Herodotus and many others.
It is possible to say that it is a magic of history that attracts many tourists, besides the warm sea and caressing sun, to buy property and to move in to Turkey to be as close as possible to this enigmatic and interesting places.
